Happy New Years. Welcome to 2013. Start your year off right with a great book. We have many books in inventory and as always will continue to take special orders. Check out our website at www.villagebookshopglendora.com and find us on Amazon.
We can be reached by phone, email, facebook, or through the blog.

For the new year we will be doing some new things including this blog chocked full of book and author related trivia, specials, and so much more. We will continue to do things we’ve always done as well, such as providing the hard to find personal service of old times.

January first is Public Domain Day. This is an observance of when copyrights expire and works enter into the public domain. There are many classics that have entered into Public Domain and therefore are available from many different publishers. Can you think of any books you’ve read that are in the public domain?

Each month has many observances. This month is National Mentoring Month, National Stalking Awareness Month, Thyroid Awareness Month, Get Organized Month, International Brain Teaser Month, International Creativity Month, National Soup Month, Shape Up US Month, National Hot Tea Month, and National Thank You Month.

We have books that will help you observe many of these, just click the links for suggestions!

Some authors born on this date include: Soame Jenyns (1704), Marie Edgeworth (1768), Arthur Hugh Clough (1819), Ludovic Halevy (1834), Mariano Azuela Gonzalez (1873), Edward Morgan Forster (1879), Nikiforos Vrettakos (1912), J.D. Salinger (1919), Ernest Tidyman (1928), John Fuller (1937), Adam Wisniewski-Snerg (1937), Shelby Steele (1946), Olivia Goldsmith (1949), and Brian Thao Worra (1973).

Each day we will highlight a book in our inventory.  Today’s highlight is “Vin Scully I Saw It on the Radio (A Tribute Book)” by Rich Wolfe.  This book is filled with sports trivia, heart warming stories about the famous Dodger baseball announcer, and much more.  The retail price of the book is 24.99 but you can purchase it from Village Book Shop for only $16.77 plus shipping.  We also have on Amazon a two pack of the book for only $32 and a three pack of the books for only $51 to save you the extra shipping fees. This book makes a great gift.
